Abstract

The economic impacts of U2 concerts on September 4 and 5, 2015, at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, were the subject of a study commissioned by the Chamber of Commerce of Turin to the Fondazione Fitzcarraldo, as part of the activities of the Cultural Observatory of Piedmont.

The two dates in 2015 featuring the Irish band recorded 28,000 attendees, with over 80% coming from outside Turin. With an average stay of 1-2 days and a daily average expenditure of 129 euros, the direct spending of the audience reached a value of 5.3 million euros, in addition to production costs of 420,000 euros.

Our role

Fitzcarraldo conducted a sample survey on the audience present in Turin during the concerts and subsequently analysed the collected data to estimate the economic impacts of the event on the territory.
