Abstract<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Dancing Museums – The Democracy of Beings” originated as an evolution of a previous European project conducted between June 2015 and March 2017 – Dancing Museums. It was an action-research project which aimed to foster and support long-term collaborations between dance, museums, and universities. Additionally, it served as an experiment in cultural democracy, aspiring to develop and test new tools through which the artistic sector could create meaningful experiences for the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project supported a new generation of dance artists to envision sustainable paths, promote inclusion, and transfer\/share knowledge about cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Goals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dancing Museums changes the perception of what dance and the human body can represent in the context of a museum. It raises the question of what a museum is: not only a place where other people\u2019s knowledge is presented but also a place of social learning. The project supports and develops a new generation of dance artists, exploring sustainable pathways, encouraging inclusion and sharing knowledge of cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our role<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fitzcarraldo Foundation conducted the action research throughout the duration of the project, as well as an evaluation of the impacts generated. The research aimed to provide a clear analysis of how the presence and involvement of a dance artist within a museum and its organisational dimension can generate new ways of experiencing art and heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It examined how interdisciplinary and cross-border collaboration between dance organisations and museums\/galleries can fuel the artists\u2019 creative process o and help organisations work in new and innovative ways with their audiences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
