Abstract<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The “domus de janas” sites represent a significant cultural heritage for Sardinia, bearing witness to the region’s history and development during prehistoric times. In this context, the Sassari-based CeSIM – Centre for Identity and Memory Studies i- is preparing a candidature document for UNESCO World Heritage status to be submitted in January 2024. The document is entitled “Art and Architecture in the Prehistory of Sardinia: The Domus de Janas.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The management plan supporting the candidature document will outline actions for the effective protection and enhancement of several sites – which include 26 assets from the Middle Neolithic to the Bronze Age – securing their legacy for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our role<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fitzcarraldo Foundation supports CeSIM \/ Network of Municipalities through the mapping of site resources in terms of their cultural and economic value. This includes a critical analysis of their socio-economic context; identifying existing protection and planning tools; mapping of stakeholders and representatives of local communities; identifying strategic-territorial projects in line with UNESCO objectives.
The project identifies issues of concern as well the potential of the site. It also draws up action plans with estimated timelines and costs, defining indicators within a monitoring programme. Fitzcarraldo will also support CeSIM and the Network of local municipalities in organising and managing the public participation process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
