Fitzcarraldo issues a new challenge: FITZLAB

Dear friends,

with great pleasure, and even more looking at the difficult years ahead, I announce the good news of the birth of FITZLAB, a new space in which we have been working for some time and that will be operational in a few months without a single pound of public contribution.

FITZLAB is a laboratory where the knowledge of associations, enterprises and citizens will converge. Here the creative community will co-inhabit. Here the future managers of cultural projects will be trained. Here we will discuss how culture and art can change the face of a city and people's life.

FITZLAB is the new challenge of Fitzcarraldo Foundation for the future of culture, which will be built alongside the new offices of the Foundation, in Turin. FITZLAB will open in a working class neighborhood outside of the river Dora, where the building company DE-GA spa has made an interesting operation of regeneration of a former chocolate factory, the Tobler. In this modern building, where Fitzcarraldo will move its offices, thanks to the financial commitment of the founders, FITZLAB is born: an innovative centre at the service of the professional development and the civic commitment of those who work for the arts & culture now and in the years to come.

In partnership with DE-GA Spa, which offers the space on very favorable conditions, FITZLAB will be opened by March 2011 and in May 2011 it will host one training sessions of the prestigious European Diploma in Cultural Project Managemen.

FITZLAB, minicampus in Scandinavian-style on the banks of the Dora, will have facilities and equipment that combine efficiency and comfort, places of concentration and relaxation areas, public spaces, common areas and private areas, rich in installations and works of art donated or lent by artists.

FITZLAB is a project open to contributions from everyone: it will host students and cultural professionals, as well as a couple of associations and debates and meetings.

In order to make this project into reality, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT, to set up the training room and the kitchen / canteen and to purchase the technological equipment and furniture, while the operating costs will be covered by revenues from rentals and activities.

50 alumni and teachers of 15 editions of our Course for Cultural Project Managers already contributed with a donation of € 300.
